Titanium dioxide uses that you never knew about

If you were to find out how much titanium dioxide is being used by most manufacturers, you will be surprised. According to research, the demand for titanium dioxide uses is on the rise by each day because most new manufacturers use titanium dioxide as their raw material. One factor about titanium dioxide that makes it to be on high demand is that it has been proved to be safe for human health. A good indication for this is in paint manufacturing; in the past, most paint manufactures used lead to make quality glossy paints but when it was discovered that titanium dioxide could do the same, lead was abandoned since it posed threat to human health.

Titanium dioxide is known to be a very important player when it comes to pigmentation. It is widely used in the paint industry and other sectors that involve coloring like in the food coloring. However, many people do not know that titanium dioxide is also used in pharmaceuticals. Titanium dioxide is actually used in making some types of drugs. It is used for drug pigmentation for example in gelatin. It is also used in the manufacture of syrups, capsules and tablet coatings.
Titanium dioxide uses also extend to the manufacturing of cosmetics. Here, it is mainly used to make things like lipsticks, tooth paste and powders. On top of this, it is used in the manufacture of sunscreen creams which are normally used to protect the skin from the sun’s ultra violet rays. It is important to know that it is the titanium dioxide in the sunscreen that is responsible for protecting the skin from the UV light because this element is known to respond to light.
Basically titanium dioxide is used in almost everything that involves pigmentation. Other common applications of titanium dioxide include; manufacturing of ink, tattooing ink, crayons, textile among so many other things. Titanium dioxide can also be used as an opercifier. In simple terms, this is the process of making pigments opaque. For example, when a woman applies a transparent lipstick, adding titanium dioxide to it will make the color of the lipstick to be conc. hence it attains an opaque nature.
PANTAI CHEMICAL
Although titanium dioxide seems to have no bad effects to the human health, there are fears that cosmetic application of this substance might be dangerous due to the small quantities of metal that are present in it. However this has not been made official yet because more study is still being done.
Since titanium is metallic in nature, titanium dioxide has the ability to conduct electric currents. This is however only possible when titanium dioxide is exposed to certain conditions such as high temperatures. Another special type of titanium oxide crystal is said to be able to store data. This is a research that was being studied in Tokyo and according to reports, 5 nanometers of this unique type of titanium dioxide is able to store up to 25TB of data.
